The founder of the Bouček Puppet Theatre was Rudolf Bouček, whose name the theatre bears. In 1924 the theatre was offered a small unused garden house, which was gradually restored and extended and in 1928 it became the largest permanent puppet theatre in the Czech Republic and maybe in the whole Europe.
The theatre is currently managed by Mr and Mrs Bauer, who also perform with their puppets abroad.
Now you can also visit the Mini Museum of Puppet Theatres (Pidimuzeum loutkových divadel) in Jaroměř, which is situated in náměstí Československé armády 48. It was founded by the Bauers and it can be visited by appointment.
